Last year my wife and I had to struggle through a difficult year. We were at logger heads about a couple of issues with our children and at times it nearly drove us apart. Sometimes being a parent can really cause conflict when you want to do things a little differently from your partner. When your beliefs about their upbringing are fundamentally different it can sometimes be almost impossible to resolve the situation.

Both myself and my wife wanted what was best for the kids. Unfortunately we both thought that was something different! Because our marriage is built on a foundation of trust and respect we managed to hold things together, but it wasn’t until our anniversary that we were able to put it behind us entirely.

We both wanted to make things right by this stage, and we had arranged to go away together without the kids for the weekend. I just wanted to make it as special as possible for the two of us, so I had brought a couple of gifts along too. I managed to track down some tickets for a play in London that I knew my wife would like, and I bought her a beautiful gown that I had seen her admiring online. I also tracked down the same perfume that I had bought her as my first gift to her when we first started seeing each other from a great womens perfume store online. Once she saw all this she absolutely melted. We had a wonderful weekend away and things have been great ever since!
